PC2-5300 DDR2-667 240-pin ECC UDIMM |
 |
| ECC stands for error correction code and can be used to fix random single bit errors without halting the computer. Many mainboards have the option of setting their operation to run with ECC. Mainboards and systems which use non-registered ECC often have the option of using regular non-ECC memory. When mixing ECC and non-ECC memory, often the ECC function will be disabled. ECC is usually more expensive than non-ECC memory because of the extra chips required to build it. |
